Job summary

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, pro-active and enthusiastic Team Manager for our Intensive Support Team in NYY&S for the learning disability service.

This is a full-time post and we encourage applications from candidates wanting to work innovatively and flexibly to ensure that staff and service users are fully supported to achieve their full potential. The team is in development and the team manager will help drive and develop this service.

Main duties of the job

The Team Manager will provide operational management of the Intensive support team, including accountability for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of patients are maintained and delivered at all times in accordance with evidence-based practice. They will be pivotal in developing this service.

Job responsibilities

The North Yorkshire and York Intensive Support Team is a newly developed team, based at Systems House in York, which will operate 7 days a week, operating enhanced hours across the week. This post we would envision would work flexibly within the service, days and hours can be negotiated. Candidates can also be based at any of our North Yorkshire, York and Selby sites with a flexible approach to be based at York for a minimum of two days a week (Negotiable).

The successful candidate will manage a team of dedicated staff to support their ongoing development, identifying training and development needs to ensure the delivery of high quality and safe care that is responsive to individual needs.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession.
  • Clinical Supervisor.
  • Post-graduate diploma in a relevant area.
  • Leadership or management qualification or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Quality Improvement Systems for Leaders or willing to undertake within agreed timescale.
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • CBT qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working with people with complex mental ill health or learning disabilities in a community setting
  • Significant experience of working collaboratively with clients and their families/carers
  • Significant experience of providing clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching to healthcare professionals and students.
  • Demonstrable leadership or management experience
  • Significant role in quality improvement activities

Desirable

  • Use of the Trust's Quality Improvement system

  • Significant evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for clients in the designated field.
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation (Health Act, Mental Capacity Act) and its application in practice
