As a Team Manager for the Sutton and Merton Complex Needs Service (CNS), you'll have the chance to lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team of highly skilled therapists, ensuring high-quality comprehensive psychological care and recovery-focused interventions are delivered safely and effectively to our service users and their carers. Main duties of the job

As Team Manager for the Sutton and Merton CNS, you will provide leadership, ensuring high-quality psychological care for individuals with EUPD. You will oversee daily operations, manage a team of multidisciplinary therapists and work closely with the Clinical Lead and Consultant Psychiatrists to deliver evidence-based therapies like DBT and MBT.

Key responsibilities include performance management, supervision, and workforce planning, ensuring service targets are met while fostering a supportive, inclusive team culture. You will drive service improvements, manage resources effectively, and ensure adherence to clinical governance, safeguarding, and Trust policies.

This role requires strong leadership, effective communication, and excellent problem-solving skills. Job responsibilities

As Team Manager for the Sutton and Merton CNS, you will oversee the clinical and operational management of a multidisciplinary team of therapists providing psychological treatments in the community for individuals who meet criteria for a diagnosis of EUPD who are also presenting with significant risks to themselves. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, including DBT and MBT, in alignment with Trust policies and performance standards.

Your responsibilities include leading and supervising staff (excluding doctors), managing caseload allocation, and ensuring effective team communication. You will champion the Trusts Recovery and Social Inclusion strategy, working to create a responsive, patient-centred service. Governance and risk management are key aspects of the role, requiring you to oversee safeguarding, serious incidents, and compliance with professional standards.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, to develop and improve service pathways. Financial and resource management will be essential, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to budgets. Additionally, you will drive service improvements, monitor performance data, and implement strategies to enhance patient outcomes. Your leadership will help shape a positive, inclusive working environment, ensuring staff development and adherence to best practices.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a health or social care discipline.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Registered professional with NMC, HCPC or relevant professional body
  • Professional management qualification at diploma level or above
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a health or social care management role
  • Experience of working with people who experience serious ongoing mental health problems including personality disorders
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff
  • Experience of managing and monitoring budgets
  • Experience of contributing to policy and procedure development and implementation
  • Project or change management experience
Knowledge and Skills
  • Specialist knowledge of effective models of mental health and social care provision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding issues and child protection requirements/legislation and how these apply to the role
  • Knowledge of legislation related to nursing, social workers and other professions
  • Skills in assessment, care planning and case management
  • Ability to deal with complex issues arising from managing a diverse multidisciplinary service
  • Knowledge or experience of working in MBT or DBT
  • Audit and Research skills
  • Knowledge of counselling skills, group skills, cognitive skills, and behavioural skills
