Our Specialist Support Team (SST) are essential in supporting customers when they really need it. We look after our customers with complex needs, such as serious mental health challenges or multiple vulnerabilities, who may struggle to manage their everyday banking. In this role, you’ll provide compassionate, tailored support through both telephony and back-office channels.Our team speak to customer’s day in, day out, getting to know their personal circumstances and finances, whilst at the same time looking for solutions and offering advice. We know times can be tough, so it’s more important than ever that we bring our heartfelt service to the forefront of our business. It’s what makes us different – it’s what makes us human.

For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will be a regular requirement to attend our Gosforth, Leeds or Glasgow site approximately once per week. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for managing team performance through customer-focused measures, ensuring the team delivers the heartfelt service we value.

You’ll lead with curiosity and a strong focus on continuous improvement, supporting team members to take ownership of their own development. The role involves coaching and developing your team to achieve targets, perform at their best and deliver operational excellence, while working collaboratively with the team, the wider department and external stakeholders to provide a brilliant customer experience.

You’ll also support your team with complex cases, taking ownership where required to achieve a positive outcome, while ensuring all work is carried out in line with risk and regulatory guidelines.

Alongside this, you’ll create a positive team culture that celebrates strong results and encourages a connected, professional approach.

About you

The minimum requirements for the role are:

  • Recent experience within management in a leadership role
  • Fantastic coaching skills to help ensure development of team and promotion of positive working environment
  • Experience reviewing management informationand escalating where relevant
  • Experience dealing with vulnerable customers within the financial services industry
  • An ability to plan workload for your team as well as be reactive to ad hoc challenges.
  • An understanding of policy and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment as applicable to Financial Services regulatory SLA’s etc
