Job summary

Network Rail in Birmingham is seeking a Team Leader for Signalling & Telecoms to manage a skilled team responsible for maintaining and repairing railway assets ensuring safe train operations. You will lead fault investigations, renewals and inspections across critical infrastructure.

The role requires experience with safe systems of work, delivering work safely and effectively, plus knowledge of signalling systems and relevant standards.

Signalling & Telecoms is one of the most critical disciplines on the railway. Combining electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering with hands-on fault finding and problem solving, no two days are ever the same. One day you could be diagnosing a complex signalling fault using specialist test equipment, the next leading a team delivering essential maintenance that keeps trains running safely and on time.

As a Team Leader, you'll lead a skilled team responsible for maintaining and repairing the railway assets that underpin safe train operations. From signalling control systems, track circuits and axle counters to point machines, power supplies, transformers, rectifiers, battery chargers and telecoms equipment, your expertise will help keep the network operating at its best.

This is a role where leadership and technical excellence go hand in hand. You'll organise, motivate and support your team while remaining actively involved in inspections, maintenance activities, fault investigations and renewals. Working closely with section managers, other disciplines and external partners, you'll help deliver safe, reliable and high-quality outcomes for the railway and its customers.

Safety will always come first. You'll be responsible for setting robust safety arrangements, ensuring compliance with safe systems of work and creating an environment where everyone goes home safe every day. By developing your team, maintaining high standards and driving continuous improvement, you'll have a direct impact on performance, reliability and customer experience.

This role offers a varied shift pattern, with rosters provided in advance to help you balance work with family, friends and personal commitments. You'll also work outdoors throughout the year and should be comfortable working in all weather conditions.

Salary: £56,777 per annum
