The team provides a front facing service to customers, regulates river levels through weir operation and carries out enforcement of boat registration. You and your team will also be supporting wider objectives such as asset management. We are in a period of change to make our operations financially sustainable so a key part of this role will be to bring your team along for that journey of seeking efficiency and better ways of delivering work. The team

The Environment Agency has a responsibility to manage some of the busiest recreational waterways in the country. Our River Thames operations include 45 lock and weir complexes. Your team will consist of Lock and Weir Keepers and Technical staff reporting directly to you.

You will need to demonstrate:

• Taking responsibility for the operational safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team

• High levels of communication skills and managing correspondence at many levels

Contact and additional information

You will need work at various locations so a UK driver licence is needed. We support hybrid working (office, site and home) but the job requires some presence onsite. There are 3 vacancies (Surrey, Reading and Oxford). Please state your preference and be mindful of realistic regular travel to base locations of Shepperton, Reading or Wallingford when stating preference. Out of hours work is occasionally required to manage incidents. As the work takes beside the river or out on boats, you should be a confident swimmer. Full Training will be given to achieve the mandatory requirements of the post alongside ongoing development.
