A local government organization in Scotland is seeking a Planning and Building Standards Team Leader. This role involves providing leadership and ensuring compliance with planning legislation while fostering a culture of high-quality service. Lead Officers will provide leadership, vision, direction and effective management of their area fostering and encouraging a culture of high quality customer service, respect, partnership and collaboration as well as continuous improvement and innovation.
Lead Officers are expected to work collaboratively with other lead officers, senior managers and Directors to support the overall strategic and operational leadership of areas ensuring that services are fit for purpose.
This is a key role in the Council’s extended Management Team and lead officers will be expected to gain and maintain the credibility and trust of colleagues as well as being able to challenge appropriately.
The Planning and Building Standards Team Leader remit includes Development Planning, Development Management and Building Standards and wider Placemaking activity. The principal role of the Planning and Building Standards Team Leader is to ensure that the Council’s statutory responsibilities with regard to the Town and Country Planning Acts, the Building (Scotland) Acts, Civic Government (Scotland) Act and related legislation, are fulfilled, all in accordance with the Council’s Competency Framework.
