Job Overview

We are looking for dynamic and highly skilled clinician experienced in all aspects of medical inpatient rehabilitation. A forward-thinking clinician with the skills to combine highly specialist clinical practice with innovation you will be committed to following best practice and the promotion of high-quality physiotherapy services.

The successful post holder needs to be flexible, motivated, and committed to put the patient’s strengths, voice, choice and control at the centre of any interventions.

As the team lead for Nevill Hall Inpatients you will have demonstrable leadership qualities, excellent communication and time management skills with proven abilities to build networks across sites and disciplines.

You will undertake Team lead duties and be able to manage staff sickness and carry out PADR reviews to your staff and work closely with your operational manager.

Through your knowledge of emerging clinical advances within the speciality, you will be expected as part of the senior clinical inpatient team to advise the Operational Manager and Senior Management team to inform future service development.

Main duties of the job

The post is based in Nevill Hall Hospital but may support other sites within ABUHB if the service needs require. The post holder will clinically lead a team of static and rotational staff, HCSW and students. They will work closely with the clinical lead and band 7’s across the neighbourhood and ABUHB wide.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide training, education, supervision and appraisal for staff and students, locally and across the service. As part of the role, you will contribute to the development of professional practice and the transformation and evaluation of service delivery and support research and innovation agenda.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Education, Qualifications, Training

Essential criteria

  • Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Appropriate range of post graduate training
  • Completion of Clinical Educator's course or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • MCSP
  • MSc
  • Active participation in relevant interest group
  • Evidence of or willing to undertake completion of an appropriate advanced assessment, diagnostic and treatment course that is recognised/ accredited

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience at band 6 with appropriate experience within speciality applied forpeciality
  • Senior postgraduate clinical experience encompassing complex case management
  • Significant senior postgraduate experience requiring people management skills
  • Experience of and commitment to leading clinical and organisational audit
  • Evidence of supervising staff
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Evidence of having worked unsupervised at a senior level
  • Experience of facilitating learning with undergraduate students

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of having participated in on-call and weekend duties where appropriate
  • Evidence of change management in clinical and operational practice
  • Experience of developing and implementing guidelines and standards
  • Experience of and commitment to teaching locally at an undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Experience of working across multidisciplinary and multiagency boundaries
  • Experience of representing the physiotherapy profession in public/ professional arena

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development sufficient to meet HCPC standards

  • Awareness of research principles and findings and the impact on clinical practice
  • IT literate
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh

  • The physical ability to perform and cope with all aspects of manual handling as demanded by the job role

  • Available for on-call and seven day working rotas where appropriate
  • The ability to travel between sites within the health Board or patients' residences in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the post
