Job description

An exciting opportunity exists in the Council’s Street Scene Services for a Team Leader LGV Driver working from our Depot at Carrwood Road, Castleford.

What will be expected from me?

The postholder will be required to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

• Be an ambassador for the Council when dealing with all stakeholders and customers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Handle conflict situations effectively.
• Be self-motivated and capable of motivating others.
• Have a good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
• Assess problems and provide practical solutions.
• Prioritize conflicting demands efficiently.
• Display good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Have the ability to multi-task and adopt a flexible working approach.

What might I be doing?

The role includes:

• Driving various LGV / Non-LGV vehicles.
• Leading a small operational team.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and ensuring FTA vehicle compliance.
• Collecting waste and recyclable materials across the district.
• Possessing a current clean LGV Driving Licence (category C) with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Holding a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence qualification (DCPC).

What can I expect?

• This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week (Tuesday to Friday).
• 25 hours of contractual overtime per week.
