Job summary

Barnsley Council seeks an experienced Housing Options Team Leader to manage a multi-disciplinary team and deliver frontline housing options, homelessness prevention, triage and assessment services.

You will provide day-to-day leadership, oversight and quality assurance across the team, handling complex cases, safeguarding, statutory reviews and multi-agency responses while driving service improvement.

About the Post:

Barnsley Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Housing Options Team Leader to join our busy Housing Options service.

This is a key leadership role, managing a multi-disciplinary team delivering frontline housing options, homelessness prevention, triage and assessment services. You will ensure cases are effectively assessed, resources are used appropriately, and customers receive timely, professional advice and intervention.

You will provide day-to-day leadership, professional oversight and quality assurance across the team, supporting staff to manage complex casework, safeguarding concerns, statutory reviews, appeals and multi-agency responses. You will also help drive service improvement through performance management, data analysis, partnership working and the development of effective policies, procedures and practice.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, sound professional judgement and substantial experience of managing teams and complex cases in a relevant service area. You will have good knowledge of housing, homelessness, safeguarding and relevant legislation, alongside the ability to work confidently with residents, staff, managers, councillors and partner agencies.

You will need to be confident managing competing priorities, making decisions under pressure and supporting a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.

You’ll be joining a service that is focused on prevention, partnership working, early intervention and continuous improvement. You’ll help lead work that supports people at some of the most difficult points in their lives, while also contributing to wider ambitions to reduce homelessness, strengthen communities and improve outcomes across Barnsley.
