Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Housing Team Leader to drive a customer-focused housing management service across Leeds. You will lead a team delivering the council's Housing Landlord duties, ensuring excellent service and value for money.

The role demands strong leadership, ability to manage competing priorities, build relationships with stakeholders, and a commitment to council values. Permanent, full-time or part-time positions with flexible working options are available.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the overall housing management service within a geographical area or the overall sheltered support service within the Neighbourhood Services area of Older Persons Housing.
  • Work in partnership with other teams and departments to ensure joined up services to tenants and other service users.
  • Line manage and supervise a team of staff including completion of appraisals, one-to-ones, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders including: tenants, applicants and other partner organisations.
  • Take a people-orientated solutions-focussed approach to dealing with customers, quickly and professionally.
  • Ensure value for money in service delivery.
  • Contribute to the delivery service improvement plans.
  • Work with team members to ensure the delivery of high quality services and achievement of performance targets.
  • Contribute to the development, review and improvement of policies and strategies in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Contribute to the improvement of local service delivery in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders and partners.
  • Be personally effective, demonstrating commitment and time management.
  • Promote involvement opportunities to customers.
  • Promote equality and diversity in both employment and service delivery.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required commensurate to grade.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills.
  • Improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion with colleagues and appropriate CPD programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
  • Be aware of and comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures e.g., child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure equality for all working in an anti-discriminatory manner, upholding, and promoting the values, standards, and equality & diversity policies of Leeds City Council.

About the role

The Housing Team Leader, leads a team who manage the Councils Housing stock in a specific geographical area. They need to maintain the teams focus on delivering excellent customer service whilst also undertaking necessary duties to ensure the health of our communities and undertake income generating work. No two days as a Housing Team Leader are the same which is great, but also will demand excellent personal organisation and initiative.


As our next Team Leader you'll lead a team that deliver on the councils core values, and improve the lives of residents of the Leeds City Council area.


The role is integral to our wider landlord service.
