About The Role

Pay Details: Grade 8 SCP 26 – 30, £37,280 - £40,777 p.a.

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week Shift Pattern. Mon – Thurs: 6.30am -2.30pm or 2pm to 10pm; Fri: 6.30am – 2.00pm or 2pm – 9.30pm

Main Place of Work: The Alps Depot, Wenvoe CF5 6AA

Description: The Individual will be an experienced vehicle motor fitter and will be responsible for supervising the day to day workload of the shift, allocating work to a small team of motor fitters ensuring the repairs and routine maintenance on a full range of cars, heavy commercial, light commercial and plant equipment and MOT testing is completed in a timely fashion and in line with DVSA standards.

• NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft Studies Part 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent.
• Experience in the operations and working practices of a Council’s vehicle repair workshop.
• Experience of the essential requirements in the preparation of vehicles for MOT Test.
• Experience in vehicle inspection to meet the standards set by DVSA
• Skilled in disciplines of the repair of light and heavy goods vehicles.
• Holder for a valid VOSA MOT tester’s certificate or the capability to attain a certificate.
• Commitment to undertake further training for professional development and enhance knowledge of ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) technologies
• Ability to motivate staff and communicate effectively with staff and members of the public.
• Full Driving Licence with a minimum of B Group.
