A social justice charity is seeking an Operational Manager for Finance, Benefit & Debt Services to support marginalized individuals in Wales. You will provide operational management, lead Financial Wellbeing Coaches, and foster partnerships with probation managers. Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Operational Manager - Finance, Benefit & Debt Services

Full Time, 35 hours per week (flexible hours). Fixed Term until 28th February 2027. This role is based across Wales, with office locations in Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, and Wrexham.

The successful candidate will provide operational management support across contracts awarded by HMPPS to deliver Finance, Benefit, and Debt (FBD) services in Wales. Responsibilities include providing person-centred support to service users, who may be serving community sentences or recently released from prison. You will lead and support a team of Financial Wellbeing Coaches (FWCs) and Peer Advisor volunteers, setting performance objectives, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

You will also develop strong relationships with local Wales Probation managers, staff, and external stakeholders, manage partnerships, and ensure a safe and trusting environment for staff.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience in managing services supporting male offenders (age 18+), especially in community settings.
  • Experience working with challenging individuals with complex needs or reluctance to discuss their needs.
  • Experience in multi-agency partnership working.
  • Training and certification in money and/or welfare benefits advice, preferably at a higher level.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, debt management, insolvency, and welfare benefits.
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
