Team Leader (Environmental Services Operations)

37 hours per week

Permanent

£34,845 - £37,546 / £18.06 - £19.46 per hour (Including Distant Islands Allowance)

We are looking to recruit a Team Leader for Environmental Services to manage the day-to-day Environmental Services Operations team at OIC’s waste management sites at Chinglebraes, Bossack and the various Household Waste Recycling Centres and recycling points.

You will be required to:

• Support the Team Manager (Environmental Services Operations), in the provision of waste management, disposal and associated services to Orkney Islands Council.




• Ensure that all works are conducted in accordance with relevant Health, Safety and Welfare legislation, with particular regard to Environmental Legislation, Health and Safety Legislation and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.




• Undertake duties as and when appropriate in support of the delivery of Waste disposal services.




• Deputise in the absence of the Team Manager (Environmental Services Operations).

Experience as a competent supervisor and knowledge of the waste management industry is essential.

You are required to hold a qualification at SCQF 6/7 i.e., SVQ3, Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced Higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education, or have a minimum of 3 years previous relevant experience, as detailed in the experience section of the person specification.

WAMITAB Qualifications or equivalent in waste or environmental services would be desireable, where this is not held there will be a requirement to obtain these within 2 years of starting in post.

IT Skills and experience with MS Office software is essential.

A full driving licence to be able to drive a car or small van is essential.
