Job Description:

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Havering to assist with the appointment of a Team Leader Environmental health Food/ H&S, on a 5.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £48.00 - £65.75 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • To lead and direct the operational arrangements to deliver an effective Public Protection Service, providing enforcement activities, business advice and support.
  • Delivering high standard of customer service within professional area.
  • The post holder has financial and resource responsibility for managing revenue and capital budgets within their cost centre.
  • Effectively working with elected Members, business partners, external agencies, the private sector and other key stakeholders.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with partner agencies including but not limited to, the Metropolitan Police, London Fire Service, Customs & Excise, Home Office, Food Standards Agency commercial investigators and other local authorities and ensure cooperative operational arrangements exist.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with an MSc. or BSc. (Hons) Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, and have successfully completed the Chartered Institute of Environmental Healths experiential learning portfolio, professional examinations, and achieved registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health to be able to practice.
  • Degree/diploma In Environmental Health Or Equiv

Experience Required:

  • Experience of successfully leading within public protection services.
  • Experience of successfully leading a multi-disciplined enforcement workforce.
  • Experience of effectively working with elected Members, business partners, external agencies, the private sector and other key stakeholders.
  • A high level of achievement in meeting statutory duties, attaining legal compliance and enforcement work through to successful prosecution.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of the role specialised area within an organisation
  • Proficiency in IT applications, including MS Teams, Word and Excel
  • Data awareness and understanding of statistics
  • Strong orientation towards customer experience and responsiveness

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board

  • This role requires an Basic DBS
