Overview

Team Leader - English

Location: Kingston upon Thames, Greater London

Salary: £47,737 - £52,250 per annum, plus up to 50 days

Contract: Permanent

Organisation: South Thames Colleges Group

Responsibilities
  • Monitor academic staff who teach English qualifications and ensure the quality of teaching delivered to students studying GCSE English and Functional Skills English is of the highest standard and meets the needs, standards, and requirements of all partners, including awarding bodies, employers, and higher education institutions.
  • Lead the English, Maths and Employability Team in relation to staff and curriculum standards within the Team.
  • Demonstrate excellent teaching skills in at least one English qualification taught within the 6th form and be recognised as a good or better teacher.
  • Experience of leading/managing A Level English, GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English with a track record of sustained improvements.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes to enhance the student experience and manage, support and develop staff.
  • Monitor and support at-risk learners to help them achieve or exceed their potential and contribute to the improvement and development of the curriculum area.
  • Remain up-to-date with impending curriculum changes and understand their implications for teaching and learning strategies; be receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving and high personal standards and expectations.
