Team Leader - Crisis Support Drop-In service (CSDI)

Please note that this role is 30 hours per week, and is primarily office-based but requires both some home-working and travel around the county as the service is county-wide, therefore access to transport is essential for the role.

Crisis Support Drop-Inservices are friendly & supportive non-clinical crisis services for adultswho self-define as needing immediate help with their mental health or emotionalwellbeing. Located in Buxton, Ripley and Swadlincote, the services offer out-of-hoursmental health help, support and signposting in a relaxed and comfortablecommunity environment. TheTeam Leader role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the teammanagement.

Main duties of the job

The Team Leader role isresponsible for coordinating all aspects of the team management. This will include, for example, general serviceadministration, the line management of the SupportWorkers, supervising and supporting the volunteer team, coordinating the staffand volunteer rotas, ensuring all shifts have sufficient staff cover, leadingstaff one-to-ones and team meetings, ensuring stock levels are maintained, ensuringfurnishings and equipment are clean and well maintained, reporting staffovertime to the finance manager, responding to local enquiries, liaising withthe Service Lead, so that the service can deliver on its objectives.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties andResponsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Team Leader areto:

1.Work with DerbyshireMind, the team of Support Workers and volunteers, to play a key part in thedelivery of a quality crisis support service.

2.Line-manage theSupport Workers including for example conducting line management meetings, authorisingannual leave, conducting annual Individual Performance Reviews (IPR), provideemotional and wellbeing support to staff, carry out any performance managementrequired.

3.Provide supportand supervision to the Volunteers, including for example, understanding andsupporting their goals, providing 1:1 and team support, providing emotional andwellbeing support.

4.Create, coordinate,and communicate the staff and volunteer rotas on an ongoing basis at least 6weeks in advance, ensuring any gaps caused by planned leave are covered. Respondto rota gaps, caused by unplanned leave such as sickness, swiftly andeffectively to ensure cover is found and the service is unaffected.

5.Monitor the On CallManager log to review the reasons for calls to the on call manager, and addresswith training where applicable to reduce operational issues during a shift.

6.Step in and provideshort-term cover for the service shift(s) if sufficient Support Workers areunavailable due to sickness or unplanned leave.

7.Keep an accurate logof staff hours worked against contracted and report monthly overtime hours tothe Finance Manager.

8.Coordinate and managethe reimbursement of staff and volunteer travel expenses in a timely manner inline with processes.

9.Lead recruitment andinduction of CSDI service staff and volunteers.

10. Coordinate clinical supervision and wellbeing support forall staff and volunteers.

11.Ensure that all staffand volunteers within the CSDI team receive an induction, mandatory training,and on-going training according to their individual personal development plan.

12. Encourage the CSDI team to support service users to developself-management strategies and to make the best use of the local resourcesaround them, to increase their ability to effectively manage mental healthcrisis.

13. To support staff and volunteers in developing theircomputer and technology skills and train them in the use of applications suchas Microsoft Office 365 and CharityLog, and any other office equipment asrequired. Troubleshoot any IT issues outside of IT support open hours wherepossible and follow up during the working week if necessary.

14. Assist in ensuring that local systems and procedures arebeing adhered to.

15. Work with the team to proactively look for ways tocontinuously improve the service, and work with the Service Lead to implementimprovements.

16.To assist the ServiceLead in monitoring, planning budgets and expenditure, and holding responsibility for all localservice-related supplies, equipment, requisition and stock control.

17. Maintain the facilities to a good standard and troubleshootwhere required for onsite issues such as health and safety, heating, printing,alarms etc.

18.Play an integral rolein instilling Derbyshire Minds values through the Crisis Support Drop-In service.

19.Work flexibly in termsof working hours and locations (including evenings and weekend as necessary) inorder to offer support and visibility to the three CSDI teams, as well asattend meetings related to the services.

Supervision, training, meetings, andsupport

20. Undertaking training as required or considered appropriatefor the role.

21. Actively participate in regular supervision sessions andteam meetings.

22. Participate in Individual Performance Review and PersonalDevelopment plans, and to undertake training and development as identifiedwithin these discussions and as indicated by the requirements of the post.

23. Be proactive in reviewing and evaluating personalperformance and identifying areas for improvement and development.

General

24. Provide cover for other members of the Crisis SupportDrop-In service teams across Derbyshire as necessary.

25. Participate in the assessment of risk and therebycontribute towards clinical governance as appropriate.

26. Maintain the confidentiality of information about clientsand other services, in accordance with Derbyshire Minds policies andprocedures.

27. Keep up to date on all matters relating to DerbyshireMinds policies and procedures, and adhere to these at all times.

28. Be familiar with matters relating to health and safetymanagement and work in accordance with Derbyshire Minds Health and Safetypolicy and procedures.
