Job Overview

Are you looking to develop your leadership skills? Are you passionate about school nursing and working with young people to ensure their health needs are met? Then we have an opportunity for you in the Harrow 0-19 team as a Team Lead for the school nurses within the team.

The post holder will be familiar with the full offer within the Healthy Child Programme and core mandated contacts. The post holder carries continuing responsibility for managing a universal 0-19 team incorporating skill mix and corporate caseload working. There is an approximate 70/30 split in role between leadership/management duties and clinical work (based on service need). A commitment to health promotion, staff supervisor, teaching and training is essential.

The post holder will work closely with the Children's Clinical Lead in the delivery of 0-19 services, ensuring an integrated approach with specialist services, focused on meeting the needs of children and their family/carers in Harrow.

They will also be committed to the CNWL values of compassion, respect, empowerment and partnership Informal visits are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and a high standard of care provision is achieved which meets client expectations.

  • Ensure the policies and procedures of CNWL are implemented and adhered to at all times and that team members are aware of them.
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff perform effectively and safely meeting the requirements of the post, taking appropriate action as necessary, and reporting to the Clinical Lead.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and interview process. Contribute actively to the promotion of Health Visiting and school Nursing as professions.
  • Provide support for the manager, keeping them informed regularly on team developments and significant issues.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

  • Identify the health needs of the team’s 0-19 population and establish priorities in line with the LA’s service specifications for the 0-19 service, targeting vulnerable groups, in line with local and national initiatives. Actively engage with children’s centres and schools to deliver agreed levels of service.
  • On a daily basis have due regard for personal and colleague safety in relation to physical aspects of the job; this would include carrying of equipment. Ensure all team members’ work within the policy.
  • Have regard to the workload of, and the pressure of, professional colleagues and junior team members, taking appropriate action as necessary.
  • Assess reporting and manage any risk, clinical and non-clinical for the benefit of self, colleagues and clients, in line with Risk Management Policy, particularly in relation to Lone Worker Policy and Health & Safety at Work.
  • Ensure a team philosophy embraces a holistic approach to children, parents, families, and carers.
  • Input into an agreed caseload and support team members to negotiate, agree, implement and evaluate care plans with clients, families, carers and other agencies.
