About the team

Shelter is delivering a Peer Mentor Service in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust’s Forensic Intensive Support Recovery Teams (FIRST). The service provides Peer Mentors who use their lived experience of complex needs to provide early intervention to enhance support, address health and social inequalities, and reduce re-offending behaviors. We need your help.

About the role

We are seeking a Team Leader responsible for the delivery and line management of the Peer Mentor Service across our areas. Based at our Birmingham Hub, you will manage and support peer mentors to deliver personalized, holistic support, integrating protocols within NHS services. You will also allocate referrals, work with the Service Manager and Commissioners to identify gaps and evaluate service delivery practices. Your work will contribute to effective systems change.

We support flexible working, personal growth, and a workplace where you can be yourself and succeed based on merit.

About you

You should be forward-thinking and flexible, supporting new ideas and processes. Experience in staff management, including supervision, and understanding of homelessness, housing, and welfare benefits issues are essential. Promoting service uptake among multidisciplinary teams and employing individuals with lived experience of complex needs are desirable. Proficiency with IT tools, including case management systems, Microsoft applications, email, and typing skills, is required.

Benefits

We offer 30 days of annual leave (pro rata), family-friendly policies, pension, interest-free travel loans, tenancy deposit loans, payroll giving, cycle-to-work scheme, and an employee assistance program. Shelter helps millions annually with housing and homelessness issues through advice, support, and legal services. We campaign to eliminate the need for help with bad housing or homelessness, ensuring no one fights these battles alone.
