Job description

Are you an enthusiastic, suitably qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist with dissection and general histology experience, hoping to advance your career? This may be the Team Lead Biomedical Scientist position you are looking for. Join our team!

The role involves being the Team Lead for specimen reception, dissection, and the main lab of Cellular Pathology. You will help develop this role to provide continuous improvement for the cancer diagnostic service and meet cancer targets for patients in central Lancashire.

Your duties include supporting the team in the day-to-day organisation, management, and supervision of a laboratory area to ensure the delivery of a timely, quality diagnostic service in specimen reception, dissection, Mohs service, and main histology lab (tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, IQC, and case assembly).

  • You will be expected to actively participate in staff training and development and possess good communication skills.
  • Assist in the procurement, validation, and implementation of reagents, consumables, equipment, and methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot issues and find resolutions. Manage the Quality Management System to meet UKAS 15189:2022 standards.
  • Participate in senior management meetings to support operational service delivery and deputise in the absence of the Lead BMS and other Team Leaders.
