Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other team leaders to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Direct staff regarding technical and work issues and discuss problems with the Lead BMS.
  • Relay solutions to team members and handle enquiries providing technical advice.
  • Communicate with engineers for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Hold regular meetings with section staff to discuss issues.
  • Manage inventory within the section.
  • Assist in selecting new and replacement equipment.
  • Advise on developments and new practices.
  • Evaluate and develop new techniques and equipment.
  • Verify specimen/sample identity and quality.

Job description

Team Leader Biomedical Scientist (Histology and Dissection)

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinate with other team leaders to ensure efficient service delivery.
  2. Direct staff regarding technical and work issues and discuss problems and solutions with the Lead BMS.
  3. Relay solutions to team members and handle telephone enquiries from healthcare professionals, providing technical advice.
  4. Communicate with engineers for equipment troubleshooting and facilitate repairs or replacements to minimize service disruption.
  5. Hold regular meetings with section staff to discuss departmental issues.
  6. Manage inventory within the section to ensure operational efficiency and stock replenishment.
  7. Assist in selecting new and replacement equipment.
  8. Advise the directorate on developments and new practices based on research, publications, and professional bodies.
  9. Evaluate and develop new techniques and equipment.
  10. Confirm the nature and purpose of routine investigations and select appropriate methods and equipment.
  11. Verify specimen/sample identity and quality at all stages, maintaining their integrity and documentation.
