Job description

Location: Granton Campus, 350 West Granton Road, EH5 1QE

Salary: £34,021 - £36,013 per year pro rata. band f (appointment is usually made at first point of the scale. role is subject to the application of a national process of job evaluation)

Edinburgh College are looking to recruit a resourceful and committed individual from an Art and Design background to fulfil the role of Team Leader within the School of Art and Design.

This is an exciting and key role within the School and the Team Leader will be responsible for scheduling and monitoring the provision of Art and Design support to teaching staff and students in studio environments and Mac Labs. The role is to lead and support the Learning Assistants within the School liaising with the Curriculum Team Managers and Head of School as part of the School Leadership Team to ensure the best support for learning and teaching possible.

You must be educated to a minimum of SCQF level 8 or equivalent (e.g. HND) in a related discipline. The successful applicant will be occupationally competent within this field and possess a strong knowledge and understanding of the Art and Design sector. Experience in the provision of specialist support, health and safety, ordering and budget tracking and leading the scheduling of work for end of year exhibitions is essential.

Applicants must have experience of ordering and tracking the purchase of specialist Art and Design materials and equipment. You must be able to demonstrate the relevant skills required to take a lead role in scheduling and delegating tasks throughout the year, this includes the ability to manage exhibition installations and the use of specialist equipment.

Candidates must have a thorough working knowledge of college procedures to comply with HSE legislation and ensure safe working practices across the School are maintained.

Additionally, you must have the ability to communicate and relate well with cross college staff, learners of different abilities working effectively to lead a team of Learning Assistants to support the wider Schools activities.

A SCQF level 9 (e.g. a Degree) in an Art and Design discipline is desirable and previous experience of leading a team and organising staff workloads within a training or educational environment would be advantageous.

Please note that the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
