Job description

Job Description

Role: Team Leader (Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services)

Location: GCHSCP, Festival Business Centre, 150 Brand Street, Glasgow, G51 1DH and Rowan Park Business Centre

Contract Status: Permanent

Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!

Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (GADRS) works in partnership with GP enhanced services offering Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT standard 7) to patients in the community.

A new model of support has been developed to assist both GPs and individuals on MAT, leading to the creation of the Team Leader role. This position is crucial for delivering safe and effective recovery-oriented care and treatment, and plays an essential leadership role in implementing MAT Standards and local and national strategies. Team Leaders should be enthusiastic, recovery-focused, and capable of managing change and risk.

As a Team Leader, you will recruit, train, develop, support, and manage a central team. This team will support individuals with low to medium support needs receiving MAT in the community alongside their GP. The team will be based centrally within Glasgow, supporting shared care GPs and their patients across North East, North West, and South Glasgow.

You will work closely with the Primary Care Facilitation team, GP Practices, ADRS localities, and colleagues from other care groups. You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of clinics with the Shared Care Enhanced Service. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic integrated Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service and will directly line manage Primary Care Recovery Workers.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Degree/Diploma in a relevant health and care subject.

Experience: Experience of Alcohol and Drug services is essential, along with understanding/experience of integrated service delivery.

Please refer to the Person Specification for full details of the required qualifications, skills, knowledge, and competencies for this role.

Additional Requirements: Membership of the PVG Scheme is essential upon appointment, and successful candidates will need to pay for their PVG membership or scheme checks. Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is also required, either already held or applied for within 3 months of starting, with registration completed within 6 months. Note that current local government pay deals mean staff are not required to pay SSSC fees.

This role is covered under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Interview Date: Week commencing 16th June 2025.
