Overview:

Oddments Theatre is an outreach-focused Christian theatre charity that performs in churches, schools and prisons across the UK, with the aim of producing quality theatre that promotes the Christian message in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner. We are based in Yeovil, Somerset.

The Team Leader role is a rare opportunity to combine acting, leadership andshow production. A key part of the role will be developing, organising and being part of our Prison Outreach. (You will be allocated time to work on this)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with recruitment of freelance actors for tours
  • Leading and managing a team of actors in rehearsals and on tour
  • Active involvement in tours: driving the van, acting in performances and assisting with set-up, pack-down and loading
  • Assisting with securing and managing bookings and schedules
  • Organising and developing our prison outreach
  • Coordinating faith-centred quiet times for the team
  • Working as part of the leadership team to make decisions

What we are looking for in a Candidate:

  • Someone with a living Christian faith and a heart for our Prison Ministry. As we are a charity focused on sharing the Christian message, it is important that our staff are passionate about this mission and therefore it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian.
  • Reliability and strong organisational skills.
  • Leadership skills and experience.
  • Strong acting ability and experience in the theatre arts (directing experience desirable but not essential)
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • A full driving license and willingness to drive the team van on tour.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime when required and varied hours on tour.
  • Confidence in speaking on the phone and basic administrative/computer skills
  • Creative ideas to improve productions

We Provide:

  • Ongoing, on-the-job training to expand your skill set.
  • A supportive and positive team environment.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact through theatre ministry.

Position Details:

This is a permanent, paid position, with a six-month probation period to ensure suitability to the role. Pay is determined by experience and hours. Hours to be discussed (4 or 5 days per week). We are also open to the possibility of a couple applying to this post.

*This post is subject to an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder is a practising Christian.
