Job summary

Guild Care’s Haviland House is seeking a Team Leader to guide care teams in delivering person-centred, dementia-friendly care. You’ll lead shifts, assign tasks, maintain a safe and calm environment, and ensure high standards.

You’ll complete monthly assessments, update care plans, oversee medication administration, and support staff through induction and ongoing learning. Join a values-driven team that prioritises compassion, professionalism, and best practice, with opportunities for development

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in care or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Experience supervising or guiding others in a care environment.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read, write, and complete basic calculations.
• Up-to-date mandatory training.
• Ability to maintain medication competency.
• Satisfactory DBS check.
• Must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
• Must possess leadership skills to guide and support care teams.
• Must have experience in delivering person-centred care.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to best practice.
• Must have previous experience in a team leader or supervisory role within a care setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift and ensure the smooth running of the household or suite.
• Allocate tasks and ensure effective use of time for engagement, tidying, and resident support.
• Maintain a calm, safe, clean, dementia-friendly environment.
• Complete monthly assessments and update care plans as needs change.
• Ensure accurate medication administration, ordering, and documentation.
• Monitor residents' wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and guidance to the care team.
• Support new staff during induction and contribute to ongoing learning.
• Communicate clearly with staff, managers, families, and external professionals.
• Use advanced dementia care techniques such as validation, de-escalation, and sensory approaches.
• Support residents experiencing distress or behavioural changes.
• Ensure meaningful activities and engagement opportunities are encouraged.
• Oversee mealtime experience and ensure dietary needs are met.
• Maintain accurate digital care records and ensure confidentiality.
• Lead compassionate, dignified end-of-life care.
• Act as a positive role model and uphold BELIEF values.
