Job description

You will help lead our Connect to Work service across Hertfordshire, supporting people facing significant barriers to employment, including disability and mental or physical health conditions, to secure and sustain meaningful paid work. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will supervise a small specialist Supported Employment team while remaining directly involved in participant support. In year one, you will manage a full caseload alongside your leadership responsibilities, reducing over time to focus on complex participants and practice oversight. Delivery follows the Supported Employment model and IPS fidelity principles. This is a regional role covering Hertfordshire, including St Albans, Watford, Hatfield, Borehamwood and the Dacorum/Hemel Hempstead area., You will lead from the front, combining day-to-day team leadership with frontline employment support. You will provide structured supervision, mentoring and field-based support, helping colleagues develop their practice while addressing performance or quality concerns when required. You will make sure delivery remains focused on commissioned employment and sustainment outcomes, quality standards and IPS fidelity principles. In year one, you will also manage a full participant caseload. You will support people with complex barriers into sustainable employment and co-work cases with colleagues where your experience can help resolve challenges or model good practice. Partnerships are fundamental. You will work with health services, referrers, delivery partners and employers to create a joined-up participant journey and integrate employment support with wider health and support services. You will monitor case recording, data quality and performance information and work with performance and fidelity colleagues to identify where delivery needs to improve. What success looks like Within your first 6-12 months, you should have helped establish a confident team with clear expectations, strong supervision and consistent Supported Employment practice. Participants should receive person-centred, strengths-based support that leads towards meaningful paid employment and sustained outcomes. Health services, referrers, employers and delivery partners should experience the service as joined-up and responsive. Performance information, feedback and fidelity learning should result in practical improvements to delivery. The working reality This role deliberately combines leadership with frontline delivery. During year one in particular, you will need to balance a full caseload with supervision, partnership working, service development, performance and quality responsibilities. Participants may have complex health, disability and employment barriers, and progress will not always be straightforward. You will need to support colleagues through difficult cases while maintaining your own delivery responsibilities and keeping employment outcomes in focus. Travel across Hertfordshire is required. We will consider reasonable adjustments that enable you to meet the role's travel requirements. Regular travel across the delivery area remains essential.
