The People We Support are adults with learning disabilities, autism, learning difficulties, acquired brain injury, complex needs, behavioural challenges, mental health conditions and physical disabilities and other associated health needs.

Job Summary

As Team Leader in a Supported Living setting, you will support and lead your team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers to provide excellent care and support for the People We Support.

You will support the development of the Abacus Care & Support services in accordance with organisational improvement plans. At all times the needs of People We Support will drive the work carried out by you and your team.

Job Description

The Team Leader position is a leadership role with responsibilities over a team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing around 1000 hours of care provision (via team) per week.

The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring People We Support receive the highest standards of clinical and personal support. The priority of our service is to ensure each Person We Support receives specially considered support which is flexible, person-centred and high-quality.

As a leader representing the organisation, you will need to act as an exemplary role model to staff. You will carry out tasks as delegated by the Registered Manager/Service Manager & Deputy Manager, supporting your team to carry out their duties.

Person Specification

You will be a hardworking and empathetic individual with great communication and leadership skills. You will be capable of building strong relationships with staff and clients, in order to lead and build on the service clients receive. Your approach to delivering great experiences for People We Support will be positive, creative and ambitious. You will take your duty of care towards People We Support and responsibility for your team seriously, whilst embracing a quality of fun and encouragement.

We expect staff to ascribe to the Abacus Care & Support mission and values, and to work in line with our policies and safeguarding practices.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Willingness to work towards NVQ 4 in Care and Management

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Adult Care (or appropriate equivalent)

Experience

  • Experience of leading/supervising aspects of the service within regulated services for adults with complex needs (preferably in a care home/supported living environment)

  • Experience of collaborating with People We Support to develop services successfully

  • Experience of designing and overseeing schedules/rotas

  • Demonstrable experience of acting as a role model for good care practice in a caregiver setting
