Job Title: Team Leader

The role of Team Leader is to control the running of the production plant under the supervision of the Production Shift Manager. The candidate should have the competence to perform chemical and manufacturing operations in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. The role includes capturing process opportunities by improving the integrity and reliability of site assets through effective use of Manufacturing Excellence tools, as well as supporting the Shift Manager during site emergencies.

Main Accountabilities:

• Operate the plant safely and efficiently, proposing improvements to manufacturing and safety systems.
• Be available for plant coverage outside normal hours, if needed (voluntary basis).
• Communicate within the shift and handover to other shifts according to site standards.
• Assist Engineering during annual investment/maintenance shutdowns and other times where possible.
• Support Factory Services in duties like tanker off-loading and loading.
• Assist the Shift Manager in operating the site’s safe systems of work, including Permit to Work, Plant Isolations, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
• Report deficiencies or non-compliances to the Shift Manager.
• Supervise Alcotex operators in plant duties as required, including housekeeping and deep cleaning.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of shift loss accounting tools and SAP entries to maintain OEE data and raw material stocks.
• Follow the shift production rota and adhere to the Production Shift Handbook.
• Maintain batch documentation as necessary.
• Handle raw materials, products, and energies efficiently to minimize losses.
• Supervise external contractors when needed and practical.
• Deputise for the Shift Manager during absences.
• Assist in minimizing plant downtime and optimizing labor use.
• Qualifications: Educated to a good standard of GCSEs or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ideally, minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial, chemical, or process manufacturing environment.
• Detailed understanding of the Alcotex Production process and plant.
