Applied Care and Development is a well-established private sector residential childcare provider delivering quality services for children and young people since 2001. ACAD is part of the CareTech Family, established in 1993, a leading nationwide social care provider offering high-quality, tailored care and support solutions across the UK. ACAD currently operates eight residential childcare services across Scotland and an independent school in Dumfries. These include four services in Dumfries and Galloway, two in Highland, and two in Fife.

We are seeking professional, compassionate, and empowering Team Leaders to provide care and support for children and young people unable to live with their families. You will supervise Residential Child Care Practitioners, supporting their effective role performance.

Many of our children have experienced adverse childhood experiences and trauma. We seek individuals with a good understanding of these challenges and the confidence to support children in recovery, growth, and flourishing.

About the service;

Springfield Home is a large detached 5-bedroom house in a rural area near Cupar, Fife, set within extensive grounds. It offers five medium to long-term placements for children and young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, including those who have experienced trauma. Staff will be qualified and registered per SSSC regulations or working towards registration. The service maintains a regular training, supervision, and appraisal schedule. It operates a rota system with staff on-site at all times, and an on-call service is available for support.

Your new role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated, trauma-informed team, working directly with children and young people to positively influence their opportunities and outcomes.

We expect that you will:

• Provide supervisory support for Residential Child Care Practitioners
• Ensure the care team has the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide effective care
• Undertake on-call responsibilities
• Contribute to assessments, care plans, reviews, and meetings with other professionals
• Deputise for the house manager when needed
• Safeguard and promote the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people
• Adhere to professional standards and registration requirements

You will have:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Child Care Practitioner
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• HNC Social Care and SVQ 3 qualifications
• Ability to work towards SVQ 4 completion
• A sound understanding of childcare theories and interventions
• Knowledge of childcare legislation, health and social care standards, and guidelines
• Support through specialist training and professional development opportunities

All Residential Childcare Workers must pass a PVG check by Disclosure Scotland and register with the SSSC before starting. CareTech covers the PVG cost. Data from applications will be used solely for recruitment within ACAD and CareTech.
