Team Lead – Warehouse (Weekends)

DSV is recruiting for a weekend cover Team Lead at Mercia Park.

This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function.

Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring an efficient warehouse operation in achieving business targets.

Provide line management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to meet customer requirements.

Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation to fulfill operational and customer demand and meet set targets.
  • Train new Warehouse operatives within area of responsibility.
  • Ensure inventories are accurate.
  • Ensure stock movements are recorded accurately.
  • Support organizing and participate in stock takes at regular intervals.
  • Ensure systems are accurate and up to date, and identify system improvements.
  • Resolve issues in the warehouse where possible.
  • Produce reports and statistics as required.
  • Assist in planning future capacity requirements.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Act up for management during leave or absence.
People Management
  • Manage time and attendance and support with people management issues.
  • Communicate priorities and targets to staff.
  • Report progress and concerns to supervisors or managers.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies as needed.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Engage with team members and contribute to team development.
  • Participate in grievance and disciplinary processes.
Experience & Skills
  • Previous supervisory experience in warehousing.
  • Good communication, IT, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and quality impact.
  • Ability to meet targets and deadlines with attention to detail.
Skills and Competencies
  • Relevant warehousing qualifications are advantageous.
  • Certified in Dangerous Goods Handling; supervisory qualification is beneficial.
  • Experience with health and safety, security, lean techniques, and possibly a forklift license.
