Job summary

Capital on Tap is seeking a confident leader to head Cloud Platform Engineering & Platform Operations in London. You’ll mentor engineers, drive performance, and ensure scalable, secure platforms with DevSecOps foundations.

You will collaborate with Product, QA and engineering managers, promote reliability and continuous improvement, and champion a culture of open communication across hybrid teams and offices.

• Confident, decisive leader with experience managing Cloud / Platform engineering teams.
• Natural ability to lead cross functional teams, working with engineering, QA and stakeholders.
• Strong communicator bridging technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Champion a culture of continuous improvement and mentorship for engineers.
• Drive team performance by removing bottlenecks and sustaining high engagement.
• Lead the adoption of AI within the team for operations and large-scale projects.
• Ensure open communication across remote, hybrid, and in-person environments.
• Remain hands-on in Cloud and Platform engineering and define best practices for scalability and reliability.
• Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers and QA to align strategy and deliver outcomes.
• Embed DevSecOps principles, ensuring security, monitoring, and automation are built in.

Cloud Platform Engineering / Platform Operations

Location: London (Moorgate). 2 Days in the Office.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Champion a culture of continuous improvement, providing meaningful mentorship and constructive feedback that helps engineers grow.
• Driving team performance by resolving bottlenecks, fostering accountability, and sustaining high engagement to ensure consistent delivery & resource efficiency.
• Driving the adoption of AI within the team, ranging from day to day operations to large scale projects.
• Foster open, transparent communication across remote, hybrid, and in-person environments.
• Stay hands on in Cloud and Platform engineering, leading by example at a technical level.
• Defining and enforcing platform engineering best practices that ensure consistency, scalability and operational excellence across the organisation.
• Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and QA to align strategy and turn ideas into well-executed outcomes.
• Contribute to product decisions, bringing a platform perspective that balances speed, quality and scalability.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risk before they come blockers.
• Embed DevSecOps principles; ensuring security, monitoring, compliance, and automation are built in from the start.

We’re Looking For

• Confident, decisive and supportive leader with experience managing Cloud / Platform engineering teams.
• A natural ability to lead cross functional teams, working with engineering teams, QA and other stakeholders.
• A strong communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Deep understanding of modern cloud / platform engineering practices and scalable system architectures.
• Experience driving a culture around reliability, performance and continuous improvement.
• Expertise across Azure, Cloud technologies and the suite of tools commonly used in Cloud / Platform Engineering.
• Proven experience working & scaling the platform to support a fast paced containerised environment.

Interview Process

• Stage 1: 30 minute intro call with a Talent Partner
• Stage 2: 60 minute technical interview with the Engineering Manager & People Partner
• Stage 3: 60 minute live technical challenge with the Platform team
• Stage 4: 60 minute case study with Product, the Engineering Manager & Head of Platform Operations
