Job summary

The Role

They are seeking an experienced Technical Team Lead to oversee a team of technical consultants responsible for delivering Microsoft 365 technologies, with a particular focus on Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, endpoint management, identity, and security solutions.

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities and will suit someone who enjoys mentoring technical teams while remaining involved in project delivery and solution design.

As Technical Team Lead, you will provide technical leadership across customer projects, ensuring solutions are delivered to a high standard while supporting the development and success of your team.

You will work closely with project, delivery, and consulting teams to ensure customer outcomes are achieved efficiently, securely, and in line with best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Solution Delivery

• Lead a team responsible for delivering Microsoft 365 and modern workplace solutions.
• Provide technical oversight across project lifecycles, including discovery, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex customer engagements.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, operational, and business requirements.
• Review technical designs and support architectural decision-making.

Project Governance & Delivery Excellence

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Manage technical delivery risks and resource planning requirements.
• Support project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with project delivery teams to optimise utilisation and delivery outcomes.

Microsoft 365 & Automation

• Drive standardisation and consistency across project delivery.
• Promote the use of automation and scripting to improve efficiency.
• Encourage adoption of emerging technologies and AI-driven services.
• Contribute to the evolution of technical services and delivery methodologies.

Knowledge Sharing & Team Development

• Mentor and coach technical consultants and engineers.
• Support professional development and technical capability growth.
• Facilitate internal knowledge-sharing sessions and best practice workshops.
• Promote collaboration and continuous learning across the team.

Service Transition & Operational Readiness

• Ensure successful handover of projects into operational support teams.
• Maintain high-quality documentation standards.
• Support knowledge transfer activities and operational readiness planning.

People Management

• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for technical team members.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and development reviews.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and team growth initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience leading technical teams within a consultancy, professional services, or managed services environment.
• Strong expertise across Microsoft 365 technologies.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, identity management, and access control.
• Experience designing and delivering customer-facing Microsoft solutions.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft security, compliance, and governance principles.
• Hands-on PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Experience reviewing technical designs and providing delivery governance.
• Excellent customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience

• Microsoft certifications across Microsoft 365, Security, Identity, Azure, or Endpoint Management.
• Experience leading complex Microsoft 365 transformation projects.
• Knowledge of Conditional Access, MFA, compliance policies, and secure configuration standards.
• Experience driving automation and service improvement initiatives.
• Interest in AI, Copilot, and emerging Microsoft technologies.
• Previous experience contributing to service design and technical strategy.
