A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Team Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner for the Urgent Treatment Centre at West Middlesex University Hospital. This role ensures effective management of clinical staff, high-level service delivery, and compliance with safety standards, making it vital for patient care and team leadership. Ideal candidates should possess robust clinical and leadership experience complemented by a current NMC registration.
Working Pattern: 37.5 Hours Per Week, across 7 days a week as service required. (Unsocial hours enhancements apply to clinicalsessions in addition to the contracted hours and if those clinical sessions arethen undertaken during unsocial hours)
This clinicianwill work within the Urgent Treatment Centre at West Middlesex UniversityHospital and will be responsible for the coordination and day-to-day runningof the UTC.
They will be responsible for ensuring that a high level of service is delivered within agreed resources.
TheTeam Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the line management and appraisal of Nurses & ENPs within the department.
The Team Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner willidentify pressures in the UTC and take the appropriate actions and steps topromote patient flow and ensure overall patient safety in conjunction withoperational service staff. They will liaise with the Emergency Department whenrequired to signpost UTC attendees requiring ED treatment.
TheTeam Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner will also be responsible for supporting therota alongside the rota team and providing staff updates to the ServiceManager when required.

Key Responsibilities &Duties
Professional/Clinical:
Be available to give expert clinical advice andleadership to staff as required.
To establish effective working relations with allmembers of the multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and amultidisciplinary approach to patient care.
To demonstrate clinical competencies and to superviseand train junior colleagues to develop skills as required.
To always exercise professional accountability inaccordance with NMC code of conduct.
EnsureUTC policies and procedures are up-to-date and that all staff comply to agreedpolicies and maintain best practice.
Toaccess diagnostics including blood, ECGs and X-Rays.
Participatein the investigation of accidents, incidents and complaints; implementcorrective action where necessary in consultation with the Service Manager andHead of Clinical Services.
Performspecialist independent assessment of patients' needs, diagnose whereappropriate, plan, implement and evaluate clinical treatment and care usingadvanced clinical knowledge and skills.
Supportthe Service Manager to maintain accurate and timely sickness and absenceinformation on a weekly and monthly basis, taking action to reduce sickness andabsence where and when appropriate for those staff the role is responsible for.
Tomanage conflict promptly and effectively, supporting and promoting effectiveworking relationships within the multidisciplinary team and initiating andevaluating any action plans.
Ensurethe maintenance of a safe working environment and that all areas have a namedHealth and Safety representative.
Toensure that COSHH and Infection Control policies are implemented and that everyeffort is made to identify and minimise potential risks/hazards.
Identifyclinical issues and incidents within the service that reduce the quality ofcare within the specialist service bringing any issues to the attention ofservice management team on site.
Demonstrateknowledge of contemporary clinical practice, explore new ideas and introducepositive evidence-based change in line with local and national initiatives.
Towork with the Operational Leads and Practice Development staff and EmergencyNurse Practitioners to implement and audit benchmarking processes, quality roadmaps, making improvement as required.
Tobe responsible with operational staff for carrying out risk assessmentsaccording to LCW Clinical Governance/Clinical risk strategies.
Tobe responsible for the implementation of safe working practice as required bythe Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure the staff in UTC are maintainingaccurate and contemporaneous training records.
Toundertake all clinical procedures in accordance with LCW policies and ensurethat these procedures and policies are understood. Policies and procedures mustbe research based and adhered to by all staff, within own managementresponsibility, whilst being constantly monitored and reviewed.
Tobe responsible for overseeing that all Emergency Nurse Practitioners ensure theassessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation andevaluation of plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence-based care.
Toensure accurate and comprehensive Emergency Nurse Practitioner records, in allformats, are maintained using appropriate documentation.
Operational Management
Tobe responsible for the day-to-day effective and efficient management ofENPs, and equipment within thedepartment.
Actas a role model for staffing working in the UTC
Manageand support the smooth and safe running of the service and any acuteemergencies.
Workclosely with the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and Emergency NursePractitioners to support the orientation and induction of staff.
Supportsystems of induction, staff appraisals daily to allow for appropriatedevelopmental activities.
Toinvestigate accidents, incidents and complaints, implementing correctiveactions where necessary, in accordance with LCW Policies.
Actas liaison with consultants, operational managers and administrative staffdaily directing as appropriate to the required individuals and/or resource.
Responsiblefor actively planning and scheduling duty rotas, annual leave and the use ofbank staff in association with the Service Manager and Emergency NursePractitioners to ensure effective and flexible use of resources.
Tobe responsible for monitoring absences and the use of temporary staff,promoting the use of appropriate effective and flexible use of resources withinUTCs.
Participatein return-to-work interviews with ENP staff
Accountablefor the safe ordering, receipt, storage and administration of drugs.
Tobe responsible for ensuring confidentiality and safekeeping of patient records.
Toact as Lead Fire Marshall and ensure that the relevant audits are completed
Toensure that there are effective communication systems in place to allow staffto keep abreast of developments within the organisation.
Toarrange, lead, record and communicate meetings relevant to the department.
Participatein recruitment and selection of staff in consultation with the Head of ClinicalServices.
Adviseother health professional colleagues as requested and utilise the skills andknowledge of his/her clinical specialty in acting as point of reference forcolleagues.
AlwaysAct as an ambassador for London Central & West Unscheduled CareCollaborative to ensure that professional standards are maintained in theprovision of London Central & West Unscheduled Care Collaborativesclinical service.
AttendLondon Central & West Unscheduled Care Collaborative clinical teammeetings.
Education & Audit:
Monitorand audit various elements of the UTC, including leading on Infectionprevention and control audits.
Ensureperformance levels are meeting targets set
Maintainyour own level of clinical competence by reading current literature, usingevidence-based practice (e.g. NICE guidelines) and attend appropriate trainingas necessary.
Participatein the London Central & West Unscheduled Care Collaborative programme ofindividual performance review and clinical audit.
Participatein the London Central & West Unscheduled Care Collaborative appraisalscheme and contribute to own development.
Toparticipate in clinical supervision (including safeguarding) actively on aregular basis, in line with LCW requirements and NMC guidance.
Participatein the induction program for new staff.
Undertakemandatory and statutory training as required by LCW policy.
Participatein educational programs and internal/external training initiatives designed toimprove clinical skills
Utiliseopportunities to develop skills and knowledge further, keep up to date withcurrent practice in this field and attend accredited courses.
Takean active part in team supervision/reflective practice.
Trainand share with others the specialist knowledge gained through appropriate studyor accredited/recognised specialist professional courses.
Contributeand commit to undertaking an annual appraisal, as part of the process ofworking towards an individualised personal development plan.
Developand participate in facilitating teaching/assessment programs and learningresources for staff, students, patients and carers
Provideteaching to other members of the team on a rolling basis.
General
Demonstrateuse of excellent communication skills to support patients and families inhighly stressful situations to ensure staff are supported to develop theseskills.
Provideemotional support to patients and carers when required
Inconsultation with managers to undertake any other duties required for whichcompetent.
Thepost holder may be required to work at any of the LCW sites in line with theservice needs.
