Job summary

Searchability seeks a Team Lead C++ Developer in Gloucester to drive the engineering of high-performance software used in national security and defence projects. You will stay hands-on with C++ in an Agile setting, mentoring engineers and delivering robust, scalable solutions for international customers.

The role requires strong Linux development skills, concurrency and networking expertise, and the ability to navigate complex systems.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing software in C++, including modern standards.
• Experience with third-party/open-source software such as Boost.
• Strong understanding of performance-focused development and concurrency techniques.
• Detailed knowledge of Linux development, including build systems, tools, compilers, kernel and drivers.
• Strong knowledge of computer networking and TCP/IP, including deep packet inspection.
• Knowledge of HTTP, DNS, DHCP, GTP, MPLS and L2TP.
• Experience with Python, Ruby, Puppet and/or Bash.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment and using tools such as Jira.
• Previous Team Lead experience.
• SC and/or DV eligible.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering of advanced software products while remaining hands-on with C++ development.
• Work within an Agile/Scrum team to enhance and maintain capabilities for international customers.
• Develop new functionality for performance-critical systems and complex networking environments.
• Travel internationally to access deployed systems and meet end users.
