Job description
Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Advanced Dietitian Team Lead to join our Dietetics Team base at the Haywood Hospital in Stoke on Trent, for 22 months on a Fixed-term contract. You will be part of the Haywood Allied Health Professionals (AHP) portfolio and lead the Haywood Dietetics Service, undertaking a highly specialist senior role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Dietetic Service. This is a varied role which will require you to work predominantly in the Haywood hospital but with some work across other community hospital sites and settings and nursing homes as service demands require. You will hold and manage a highly specialist clinical caseload within the Haywood and community hospitals settings whilst also working closely with Haywood management team, AHP & dietetic leads and many multidisciplinary teams to lead & deliver an effective and safe dietetic service across adult inpatient wards at the Haywood and community Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • Be skilled in the assessment of complex/specialist care/support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages for patients and families.
  • Provide quality driven, evidence based dietetic & nutrition support interventions within the Haywood Dietetic service.
  • Have leadership, supervisory and training responsibilities and will have responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements.
  • Demonstrate initiative and be creative in finding solutions to problems.
  • Work with Haywood service leads and other dietetic & AHP leads undertaking delegated tasks in team management and service provision.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent.
  • Post Graduate BDA accredited courses in dietetics such as PENG
  • Registration with HCPC; Registration with the BDA

Desirable

  • Masters qualification or modules completed in relevant area that will support the delivery of the service.
  • Further clinical study relevant to clinical practice such as life limiting conditions and complex long term conditions management.
Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in the clinical specialism including assessment and management of specialist dietetic interventions in long term conditions and disease.
  • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with clinical conditions and disability through dietary interventions.
Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of expert/advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the post.
  • Knowledge of relevant NSF's and NICE guidance.
  • Interpret the findings of healthcare investigations.
  • Critically appraise clinical information and evidence.
