Job Description:

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Greater Manchester, recruiting for a locum Team Lawyer to support their People function until March 2026.

The team oversees Childcare, Adult Social Care, Education, Health, and Housing, but this role will carry an Adult Social Care caseload.

The position is available immediately, with a negotiable rate based on experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Overseeing a team across areas of law including Children’s Social Care, Adult Social Care, Health, and Housing
• Managing a personal caseload of complex matters within Adult Social Care, such as Court of Protection, welfare applications, ordinary residence disputes, s21A challenges, and advocacy
• Advising on, preparing, and conducting proceedings, representing the Council in courts, tribunals, inquiries, and hearings
• Supervising and mentoring junior staff within the division

Skills, knowledge, and expertise required:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive
• Experience in Local Government legal work

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday – Friday
