Teaching Support Assistant

Required for September 2025

Hours: Full-time (32.5 hours per week x 38 weeks); Part-time hours also considered

Contract: one-year fixed-term (initially)

St Matthew’s is a one-form entry primary school in Ponders End, serving a vibrant and diverse community, where families often face significant challenges. We are more than just a school - we are a supportive, caring family, driven by a shared sense of community and purpose, and we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Our mission is to provide every child with strong foundations for a bright and fulfilling future.

We are committed to providing the best for our children: fostering a safe, happy and nurturing learning environment where our children can flourish, not only academically but also socially, emotionally and spiritually. Our vision goes beyond teaching an engaging, rich curriculum - we aim to equip our pupils with essential life skills, resilience, and the confidence to achieve their dreams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Teaching Support Assistant who is passionate about making a difference to children’s lives. The role is flexible and may include a blend of responsibilities including supporting class teachers with the general management of the classroom and day-to-day learning activities. The role will also consist of leading the delivery of targeted interventions, providing individual and small group support, particularly for pupils with SEND, and delivering high-quality care. The successful candidate will play a vital part in supporting children’s learning and well-being across the school.

If you can inspire and engage young minds, embrace challenges with positivity, have a sense of humour, a ‘can-do’ attitude, and are eager to immerse yourself in a small, exciting school community, then this is where you need to be! Come and help us to shape the future.

We can offer you:

A “beautifully inclusive school” (Ofsted 2023) with a vibrant and diverse school community;

Enthusiastic learners with high standards of behaviour, who are proud of their school;

A supportive, welcoming and dedicated staff team and governing body;

An evolving, exciting curriculum, reflecting the diversity of our school community;

A rich CPD offer, with the freedom to trial initiatives and be innovative;

Our commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and improving teacher workload;

An opportunity to make a positive contribution to a school on an exciting journey.

The Governors of St Matthew’s are equal opportunities employers, committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and encourage applications from staff from under-represented groups.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please contact our Office Manager, Sue Michael, on office@st-matthews.enfield.sch.uk or 020 8804 1666 to arrange your visit.
