Job description

The Local Representatives of St Gregory’s Catholic Academy wish to appoint a combined post of teaching support assistant to work 8.45am-12 noon, could increase depending on experience.

The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Catholic education.
  • Experience in working with children across a range of ages including the knowledge of phonics and teaching of reading
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of strategies that will ensure the progress of children with additional needs
  • The ability to liaise effectively with staff and parents
  • Relevant qualifications/experience or training ( GCSE Maths and English) Working towards or achieved Level 3 NVQ)

The ability to

  • Support the teacher in the planning and delivery of learning activities.
  • To help pupils to develop literacy and numeracy skills.
  • To help with the maintenance of classroom records.
  • To support the teacher in the evaluation of the learning activities.
  • To support the maintenance of positive links between home and school by making parents feel welcome and develop links with other agencies.
  • To help with the care and support of pupils individually and in groups.
