The department currently consists of 4 part-time Imaging Diplomates (in addition to this post), 3 ECVDI residents, 1 Imaging Intern and 5 radiographers. The service provides referral level MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Radiography to the QVSH both in and out of hours, as well as offering advice and support to our small animal and equine primary care practices.

  • lead, develop and support a high standard of clinical service provision in the Imaging team.
  • ensure the Imaging team works effectively as part of the wider referral hospital.
  • support clinical research as required for postgraduate training programmes.
  • balance research impacts on the wider hospital to provide a financially viable service.
  • support development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment in diagnostic imaging, in collaboration with academic colleagues.
  • contribute to both clinical and didactic teaching.
  • allocate time for administrative and service leadership components of the role.
  • participate in an out-of-hours rota, for which an additional payment is provided.

The role primarily provides a specialist diagnostic imaging clinical service while contributing to the clinical teaching of undergraduate (Year 6) veterinary students and postgraduate Clinical Training Scholars working within the QVSH. The postholder will support the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment in diagnostic imaging, in collaboration with academic colleagues. Although this is not primarily a teaching post, there will be opportunities to contribute to both clinical and didactic teaching.

  • Applicants should be a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (Dip ECVDI) or American College of Veterinary Radiology (Dip ACVR) and be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) or hold a veterinary degree registerable with the RCVS.
