Job summary

Northeastern University London is seeking a Junior Physics Technician to support Teaching Laboratories in London. The role involves safety checks, preparing and calibrating equipment, and assisting faculty during practical sessions.

You will maintain lab conditions, manage stock, and help students with experiments while following SOPs and safety rules. A relevant physics/engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is required, with strong organisational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Physics, Engineering, or related science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Good practical skills and attention to detail; able to follow health and safety procedures.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Health, Safety & Compliance – conduct daily laboratory safety checks and ensure proper labeling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Laboratory Preparation & Practical Support – set up and calibrate instruments and assist Faculty during live sessions.
• Equipment Maintenance & Quality Assurance – perform routine maintenance and keep calibration logs and SOPs up to date.
• Stock Management & Procurement Support – monitor stock levels, manage deliveries and assist with quotations and purchase orders.
• Student & Academic Support – provide technical guidance to Level 4/5 students and support practical activities.
• Administration & Record Keeping – maintain records of lab usage, maintenance and safety checks.
