Job summary

SRUC seeks a practical Teaching Instructor to deliver NC, HNC and HND Agriculture courses at the Oatridge campus and local college farm. You’ll teach machinery operation, farm maintenance and workshop skills with a mix of classroom and hands-on teaching to develop students’ practical abilities.

The role combines independent work and team collaboration, with hybrid working options and a strong commitment to learning and development within SRUC.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualifications at HND level (SCQF 8) in agriculture or animal science.
• Strong practical agricultural experience and good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver NC & HNC classes and practical teaching at SRUC Oatridge campus.
• Support hands-on learning through farm-based activities and workshops.
• Contribute to course delivery and assessment to ensure student progression.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a practical and enthusiastic Teaching Instructor to support the delivery of NC, HNC, and HND Agriculture courses, based at the SRUC Oatridge campus and the local college farm, this role plays a key part in developing students’ hands‑on agricultural skills through both classroom instruction and practical teaching.

The successful candidate will deliver NC & HNC classes, covering areas such as machinery operation, farm maintenance, and workshop skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have relevant vocational qualifications at HND level (SCQF level 8 ) in a relevant subject, such as agriculture or animal science, and/or have strong practical agricultural experience. Good people skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are also required. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently, and with other team members, to ensure that accurate results are delivered to agreed deadlines.
