About Us
TheFaculty of Life Sciences & Medicine brings together disciplinary strengths in biomedical sciences, clinical research and public health to improve human health. Our faculty encompasses world-class departments (from neuroscience and structural molecular biology to infectious diseases and population health), close ties with NHS partners, and a commitment to translational research and high-quality teaching.
The Hub for Applied Bioinformatics (HAB) is the Faculty’s focal point for computational biology, delivering bespoke bioinformatics support and training across genomics, transcriptomics, spatial biology and AI/ML projects. We co-lead the Applied Bioinformatics MSc, run practical workshops, and we recently partnered withKCL’s Spatial Biology Facility , an advanced centre equipped for high-resolution spatial transcriptomics and multiplex imaging, to turn large-scale data into actionable insights for both fundamental and translational research.
About the role
We currently have an opening for a Teaching Fellow in Bioinformatics who will support the teaching and academic delivery of our Applied Bioinformatics MSc programme. The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative and experienced teaching team and benefit from excellent technical and administrative support.
The post holder will possess strong programming and data science skills, with demonstrated application in bioinformatics contexts. They will be expected to contribute to the effective delivery of teaching, learning, and student support by:
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 1st October 2027.
The position is anticipated to begin around the start of the academic year in September, though there is flexibility if a later start date is necessary.
Please note that this role is primarily in-person, especially during the first semester of each year (September to December). Additionally, during the six-month probation period, full in-person attendance will be required.
