The Department of Humanities is a community of researchers,teachers, students, and support staff working together on cuttingedge issues in contemporary culture. English & Creative Writing(ECW) is an integral part of the Department and wider Universitywith popular honours and joint-honours undergraduate degrees,three Masters-level programmes (in Creative Writing; Literature,Culture & Society; and an MFA in Creative Writing); and a vibrantPhD community.

We seek to appoint a Teaching Associate to join our ECWsubject team, on a 0.6 FTE fixed term maternity cover contract,with teaching experience, to deliver literature modules across theundergraduate curriculum.

We are looking for someone to contribute to a broad rangeofteaching, including Victorian literature, and work across a rangeof literary critical approaches, forms, and genres. They shouldalso be able to supervise UG and PGT dissertations.

The role involves delivering a range of established teachingmodules at undergraduate level, with guidance as required, in amanner that supports a research-informed approach to studentlearning; undertaking student assessment and examinationactivities, including the provision of appropriate feedback tostudents; supervision of students as required, providing direction,support and guidance and contributing to curriculumdevelopment activities.

To be considered for this role it is essential you have a relevantgood honours degree and PhD and have demonstrable teachingexperience. You will have the ability to plan and organise yourown workload effectively, work in a team environment and haveexcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the abilityto listen, engage and persuade, and to present complexinformation in an accessible way to a range of audiences.Experience of student supervision would be advantageous.
