Job description

The Headteacher and Governors at Somerville School are looking to appoint two enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants to support Teachers in our Year 6 and SEN Departments.

Positions Available:
  1. SEN TA: 32.5 hours
  2. Y6 TA: 17.5 hours

Work Schedule: 39 weeks per year

Salary:

  • £20,649 - £26,123 per annum for 32.5 hours
  • £11,120 - £14,063 per annum for 17.5 hours

Note: Subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review.

Candidate Requirements:
  • High expectations and a commitment to support pupils alongside Teachers; good oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work proactively and take ownership of tasks within a team;
  • Confidence in supporting small groups of pupils with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition;
  • Ability to provide personal care to SEN pupils, including tasks such as nappy changing and managing medical needs like feeding tubes, in line with our Intimate Care Policy;
  • Recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (essential).

Applicants must provide evidence of their Right to Work in the UK prior to interview. The successful candidate will need to complete an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check, medical questionnaire, and supply two references, one from a previous employer.
