Job Title: EYFS Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: £89.44 - £100 per day
Location: Whelley, Wigan (WN1)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential for a permanent role)

A warm and inclusive primary school in the Whelley area of Wigan is looking to appoint a nurturing and dedicated Teaching Assistant with an EYFS specialism to join their Early Years team from September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood development and play-based learning. The successful candidate will support children aged 3–5 in a well-resourced setting, working closely with the class teacher and EYFS lead to create a calm, engaging, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

The school prides itself on its strong early years provision and is looking for a team player who is committed to delivering high-quality early education and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering the EYFS curriculum through creative, hands-on activities.
  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups.
  • Support children with their personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Observe and record children’s progress in line with EYFS outcomes.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents/carers.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working in an EYFS setting (nursery, preschool, or Reception class).
  • A calm, caring, and enthusiastic approach.
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development milestones.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Desirable:

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., CACHE Diploma in Early Years Education).
  • Experience working with children with SEN or speech and language needs.
