Job description

Welsh Speaking, Primary Teaching Assistant

Start date: 28th April 2025

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm

Pay rate: 100 to 110 per day

Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and nurturing school in Newport, a lovely Welsh medium primary school. This full-time, long-term role offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to the educational journey of our pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The successful candidate may have the potential to secure a permanent position. You will play an essential role in supporting our school's mission of providing a high-quality, inclusive education, fostering a love for learning through the medium of Welsh.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with Additional Learning Needs, such as Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties, both in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Facilitate learning through the medium of Welsh, ensuring all pupils have equal access to the curriculum and are able to participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement individualised learning plans and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom materials and activities that promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track the progress of pupils, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Apply Makaton signing techniques when appropriate to support communication for pupils with speech and language challenges.
