Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Support

Location: Winchester
Pay: £13.75 per hour

A well-respected school in Winchester is looking for caring and committed Teaching Assistants to join their friendly team, supporting children with special educational needs. This is a fantastic chance to really make a difference in the lives of young learners in a warm, inclusive setting.

The school specialises in tailored education for children with a variety of complex needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and communication challenges. Successful candidates will work closely with teachers and therapists to support individual pupils, helping them engage with lessons and develop important skills.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting children with special needs during lessons and activities

  • Helping put personalised learning plans into action

  • Encouraging social, emotional, and behavioural growth

  • Assisting with communication and interaction using different approaches

  • Keeping the classroom a safe, positive, and welcoming place

What we’re looking for:

  • A valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to get one (at own cost)

  • Patience, kindness, and good communication skills

  • Experience with children with special needs is great but not essential — full training is provided

  • Ability to work well with a team of teachers, therapists, and other staff
