Job summary

Harris Academy Rainham is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support individuals and groups in the SARP. Responsibilities include classroom support, personal care, and welfare tasks. The salary is £24,543 - £24,894 for 36 hours/week over 38 weeks, with standard school hours.

The successful candidate will have degree-level qualifications, a good grasp of SEND, and experience with young people in education. Excellent English, ICT skills, and the ability to work across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
• Some knowledge of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviours
• Awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace
• Experience of working with young people in an education or training setting
• Experience of managing own workload
• Good literacy and numeracy
• Good interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English
• Good administrative and organisational skills
• Ability to engage and motivate children
• Ability to work with teams across levels
• Good ICT skills and MS Office
• Ability to use own initiative and exercise judgement
• Flexible approach to work
• Maintain confidentiality and diplomacy

Responsibilities

• Supervising and supporting identified students in 1:1, group or whole class settings
• Assisting in developing resources and teaching strategies to support learning needs
• Evaluating student progress and providing feedback
• Leading small group sessions and interventions
• Attending to students' personal needs
• Supporting behaviour management
• Undertaking activities and adjusting tasks to achieve learning goals
• Supervising during playtimes and lunchtimes
• Preparing classrooms and displaying student work
• Maintaining resources and assisting student use
• Keeping records as requested
• Engaging with parents/carers and reporting information
• Accompanying staff and students on visits and trips
