Job summary

Cambian Whinfell School, Kendal, is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support students aged 7–19 with autism and related needs. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an annual salary around £22,674.64.

You will work in a small-class setting and collaborate with clinicians and teachers to foster academic, social and emotional growth. Candidates should have a genuine passion for helping young people, strong communication, calm listening, and a clean UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for improving the lives and education of young people.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Mature, calm demeanour with active listening skills.
• Must hold a clean Full UK Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students learning and social development inside and outside the classroom.
• Working 1:1 or 2:1 with students who need extra support.
• Helping to set up engaging activities tailored to each student’s needs.
• Supporting teachers to create a positive, organised, and inspiring classroom environment.
• Reacting to classroom situations with calm, constructive, and professional guidance.
