Teaching Assistant - £13.05
Senior Teaching Assistant - £14.36 - £14.83

Hours: various

Location: within 15 miles of home

Contract: Flexible or Fixed term contracts in line with Children’s support packages

About This Opportunity
  • Join Cumberland Council’s Learning Support Service (LSS)
  • Support schools to enable each child to thrive
  • Assist children with Educational Health Care Plans to develop their learning
  • Help ensure the health and wellbeing of our young people
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver learning, skills, personal and practical support
  • Meet needs and wellbeing for individuals and groups
  • Supervise pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety
  • Assist with development and implementation of Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programs
  • Build relationships with pupils and interact based on individual needs
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance
  • Encourage interaction and engagement in activities led by teachers
  • Set high expectations to promote self-esteem and independence
  • Provide feedback on progress and achievement under teacher guidance
Who We’re Looking For
  • Recent experience working with children in an educational setting (including placements)
  • Knowledge of welfare, safety, and education practices for children
  • Understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage/National Curriculum
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning
  • Desirable: knowledge of services for young people
  • Ability to self-evaluate and seek learning opportunities
  • Effective use of ICT and basic technology skills
  • Good relation skills with children and adults
  • Teamwork skills
  • Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities
  • Soft skills: communication, adaptability, collaboration
  • Promote development opportunities within the team
  • Use inclusive language to appeal to diverse candidates
