Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for daily supply work at a specialist SEN school in Newham, East London. You will support pupils with ASD, PMLD and complex needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis, adapting activities and using communication tools to promote engagement.

The role offers flexible daily supply with competitive pay (£100-£117 per day) and opportunities for regular bookings at the same school. DBS update preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, PMLD or complex learning difficulties.
• Comfortable providing personal care where required.
• Confident supporting pupils with communication difficulties and challenging behaviour.
• Patient, proactive, reliable and adaptable.
• Able to work confidently in different classrooms with minimal notice.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD, PMLD and additional SEN.
• Support teachers with classroom activities and adapted learning tasks.
• Assist pupils with personal care, including toileting and changing where required.
• Support non-verbal pupils using visual resources, PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies.
• Help manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
• Encourage pupil engagement, independence and social development.
• Adapt quickly to different classrooms, routines and individual pupil needs.
• Work closely with teaching staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD, PMLD & Complex Needs

Remedy Education is currently recruiting for experienced and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to provide daily supply cover at a specialist SEN school based in Newham, East London.

The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex learning needs and communication difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for SEN Teaching Assistants looking for flexible work, whether you are available 1-2 days a week or looking for regular supply opportunities.

We are looking for candidates who are confident working with pupils with complex needs and can adapt quickly to different classrooms and learning environments.
